Osterberg signs on with Iowa DNR

The eastern Iowa environmentalist who ran an unsuccessful campaign against U-S Senator Chuck Grassley last year has won himself a new job. David Osterberg is being hired by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources as an environmental consultant. Osterberg is a 55-year-old from Mount Vernon. He served a dozen years in the Iowa Legislature and has been an economist and a geography professor at the University of Iowa. Osterberg says the federalgovernment is beginning to deal with what he calls the facts of global warming. Osterberg plans to move to Des Moines and start work within twoweeks. He has been hired by D-N-R director Paul Johnson on a full-time temporary basis. A news release quotes Johnson saying Osterberg will provide assistance on leading energy issues such as energy efficiency, support of renewable energy sources like wind and biomass, and Iowa’s responsibilities and opportunities in light of potential global climate concerns.
