Deere and Company says the agreement could see Russiabuying up to a billion dollars worth of farm machinery over the next five years. An official with the Quad City-based Deere says the partnership represents a profound step in the revitalization of Russia’s agricultural sector. It’ll be the first time Deere products have been sold in Russia — and it’s not just exports. Deere may invest in Russian operations & make some equipment there. While Deere is the global leader in ag equipment, the number-two company also agreed Monday to enter a joint venture in Russia. It’d see Case Corporation, too, making combines, tractors & implements in the former Soviet Union.
