The Iowa College Student Aid Commission is waiving the guarantee fees on guaranteed students loans for the 1999-2000 academic year. Commissionspokesman Tim Fitzgibbon says the move will save students nearly one million dollars in loan fees in the next year. Fitzgibbon says a new structure for funding the guaranteed student loans allows the commission to drop the fees. He says students securing loans will see the change in the next month. Fitzgibbon says the commision will review the situation each year and determine if they can continue to waive the guarantee fee.
