The Iowa Legislature today honored the Mc-Donald’s All-American basketball team which will square off tomorrow night in Ames. Iowa Falls stand-out, Nick Collison, is only the third Iowan to be named to the prestigious high school squad. Collison says it’s a great tune-up for his transition tocollege ball as a Kansas Jayhawk. House Republican Leader Brent Siegrist, a former wrestling coach, extended an invitation to Collison and the rest ofthe team to take on legislators in one of their weekly basketball games. At least one Mc-Donald’s All-American has played in the past 19 N-C-double-A championships. And 20 former Mc-Donald’s All-Americans have played on teamswhich made it to the N-B-A finals. Officials say plenty of tickets remain for the annual Mc-Donald’s high school all american basketball game tomorrow night in Hilton Coliseum. Pigott says they are happy with the eighth thousand tickets sold considering Hilton is abigger venue than the Mc-Donald’s game has used the past few years. Pigott says the game in Ames already has reached a point where it will outdraw the one held in Colorado Springs.
