April showers bring more than May flowers. Those April showers may alsobring hail, thunderstorms, lighting, flash flooding and tornadoes. Todaymarks the start of severe weather awareness week as Iowans are reminded tothink over how they should react when dangerous weather strikes.Carl Jungbluth is a forecaster at the National Weather Service office inmetro Des Moines. He says people who are new to the area may not know thedifference between a watch and a warning.A warning means severe weather is happening or is eminent and that peopleshould take cover because their lives may be in danger. Jungbluth says lightening is oftentimes disregarded but he says it kills more people thanany other storm related events.A statewide tornado drill is planned for Wednesday morning.
