The company that employed the 14 young people who were in last week’s deadlyvan crash in Wisconsin is under scrutiny. Seven young people died in thewreck near Janesville including an Iowan: 16-year-old Marshall Roberts ofrural Grand Mound. Seven other people were injured, among them, 20-year-oldJeremy Holmes of Clinton, who was driving & who now faces a variety ofcharges. The magazine subscription company the group worked for is calledSubscriptions Plus, which is under investigation in Oklahoma, where itsrecruiting is based. Labor Department officials there accuse the company of123 violations of the state’s worker’s compensation act, and other childlabor law violations. The fines exceed 30-thousand dollars.
