More than 400-high school boys and girls basketball players will gather atDrake University beginning Friday for the Futurestars Spring Shootout. The event always attracts a number of college coaches who try to size up the talent pool. Van Coleman of Futurestars says players from 18 or 19states will be trying to impress the coaches.Coleman says while players that go one to sign with big-time collegeprograms draw the most attention at events like this, there are a lot ofopportunities for players at the division-two or N-A-I-A level.Coleman says each player is evaluated and a report is prepared that schoolscan obtain and that is especially important for underclassmen.Coleman says this year’s senior class in Iowa has produced about 20division-one scholarship players. He says the junior class is coming on andhe says those players will be heavily scouted this weekend.Games begin Friday afternoon and continue through Saturday afternoon.
