A forum at Iowa State University today discussed the ongoing crisis inKosovo. ISU political science professor Richard Mansbach says he thinks NATOleaders didn’t believe Yugoslav President Slobadon Milosevic would hold outthis long after the bombing started.Mansbach says the bombing has ironically helped Milosevic, much the way itdid Saddam Hussein in the Gulf War. He says the more the U-S bombed Iraq themore it strengthened Hussein’s position. Mansbach says the same has happenedin Yogoslavia.ISU mechanical engineering student Pedrag Popovich is a Serbian fromBelgrade in the former Yugoslavia. He says his opinion of the United Stateshas changed since the bombs started falling on his homeland. He says hisfeelings are now mixed and the bombing is hard to grasp.Popovich say Serbians are being portrayed as the bad guys in the situationwhen it is not entirely the case.
