Republican presidential hopeful Lamar Alexander is focusing on ag issuesearly in his second campaign for the White House. Alexander today named themembers of his ag advisory committee and he spoke with Radio Iowa by phonefrom the campaign trail.If elected, Alexander promises to ban an oil-based fuel additive which is acompetitor of corn-based ethanol. In addition, Alexander promises to limitthe use of economic sanctions as instruments of foreign policy and to reformthe federal crop insurance program.Alexander says the Clinton Administration has too many trade sanctionsenforce which hurt farm exports.Craig Lang of Brooklyn, Iowa is the chairman of Alexander’s 24-member agpanel.
