Hundreds of Iowa-based Reservists and National Guard members are waiting onword about a possible mission to Yugoslavia. The Pentagon may call up more than 30-thousand Reservists to boost attacksagainst Yugoslav forces. A spokesman for the Reserve in Atlanta says there’sno official word yet on which units will be called up — but he says thetroops are trained, ready & on stand-by. They’d likely be assigned to fly andservice the 300 additional American warplanes being sent to the Balkans.Iowa has two Air Guard units stocked with fighter jets, one based in DesMoines, the other in Sioux City. 200 members of the capitol city unit arealready assigned to fly their F-16s in missions over Iraq’s northern no-flyzone this summer.
