Four of Iowa’s interstate “Welcome Centers” re-open their doors for theseason this morning. The state-run centers at Davis City, Waukee, SergeantBluff and Underwood lure thousands of passers-by to stick around the Hawkeyestate longer, and were especially successful last year.LuAnn Reinders is marketing manager of the Iowa Division of Tourism. Shesays you don’t have to be from out-of-state to stop in and take advantage ofthe welcome centers.Reinders says tourism is a three-point-six billion dollar industry and thewelcome centers play a key role.Interstate welcome centers at Victor and Wilton are undergoing renovationsand will re-open this summer.
