Patients would be protected if their health care providers go bankrupt, under a bill being introduced today by Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley. Grassleysays the legislation would include nursing homes and hospitals that gobroke, but patients would still get the proper care.Grassley says there have NOT been many problem cases in Iowa of health careproviders going out of business.Grassley met Monday with a group of college students, including several fromIowa, to talk about Social Security. He says the group was savvy about thetroubles within that administration. He says the students think Social Security should be preserved — but in adifferent form. Under current projections, Social Security and Medicare willbe swamped and could go under when the bulk of baby boomers begin to retirein about 12 years.
