A team of crisis counselors from central Iowa is headed for Littleton, Colorado, to help people cope with Tuesday’s violence. The counselors from Polk County Victims Assistance are specially trained to deal with crime victims. County spokesman Phil Roeder (RAY’-dur) says the offer of help was promptly accepted by leaders in Colorado’s Jefferson County as there are so many people effected by the killings. Roeder says several members of the Iowa team were sent to Oklahoma City four years ago after the federal building bombing to offer the same type of grief counselling. He says it’s unknown how long the counselors will be assigned in Littleton. The team of four crisis counselors will leave Des Moines as soon as Friday.
