Potential republican presidential candidate John Kasich says he intends topropose new farm policies which ensure the future of family farmers. Kasich, an Ohio Congressman, says corporate interests should not be allowedto take over America’s farm operations, but Kasich says no one knows yet howto accomplishing that goal. Kasich supports the so-called “Freedom to Farm”act which is gradually reducing federal farm subsidies and removinggovernment planting rules for farmers. Kasich envisions developing a system which would forward federal support tofarmers when they’re in an economic downswing or a natural disaster.Kasich made his comments on the Iowa Public Television program, “IowaPress.”
