The Algona Garrigan baseball team is hoping solid pitching helps earn theschool a first-ever trip to the state tournament this summer. Ranked thirdin class 2A Garrigan opened with a doubleahder sweep of West Bend-Mallardlast night and it included a no-hitter from pitcher Brad Nelson. Garrigancoach Gene Meister feels Nelson may be one of the top sophomore pitchers inthe state.Meister says Nelson has blossomed as a pitcher in the last year.Meister says the program has reached a point where they have a goal ofmaking the state tournament.Garrigan plays Estherville-Lincoln Central tonight.
