A state lawmaker whose return address is on a sexually-explicit e-mailmessage to all of his colleagues says he doesn’t remember sending it as he’s”not a computer whiz.” Representative Mike Jager (jay’-ger), a republicanfrom LaPorte City, told the Waterloo Courier he didn’t mean to send themessage, which contains passages about bestiality and sodomy. Senator TomFlynn, a democrat from Dubuque, says the e-mail was inappropriate.Flynn has used a software program which will block any e-mail Jager sends tohim in the future. But House Republican Leader Christopher Rants of Sioux City says democratsare complaining about the e-mail because they want to defeat Jager in thenext election.Rants says legislators have had e-mail on the state system for only twoyears and it might be time to develop a policy for its use.Rants, a self-described “Net Head,” says HE would not have forwarded theracy e-mail to his colleagues.Representative Jager did not respond to Radio Iowa’s request for aninterview.
