A shortage of workers continues to be one of the few things slowing Iowa’seconomy. Creighton University economist Ernie Goss conducts a monthly surveyof the economy in Iowa and eight other states.Goss says labor shortages are common across the midwest. He says Iowa andother states need an influx of new workers.Goss says rising prices for materials could have an impact on businesses inthe next couple of months. He says the “heated” economy is driving theprices up.Goss says federal officials will probably have to raise interest rates this month or next to slow the economy.
