A delegation from southern Africa has arrived in Iowa City to learn aboutAIDS prevention.The five health care workers from Botswana will spend several days meetingwith University of Iowa researchers and medical experts from two other areaagencies. They hope to take home information about H-I-V and AIDS research,education, prevention and intervention.Tom Baldridge is executive director of CIVIC, the Council for InternationalVisitors to Iowa Cities, which is hosting the group. Baldridge does notexpect any problems with a language barrier.A United Nations report finds one-quarter of the population of Botswana isinfected with H-I-V and the numbers continue to rise. The Botswanans arescheduled to be in Iowa City through Saturday.
