Iowa’s first installment of the national tobacco settlement is now earningthe state interest. Iowa Attorney General spokesman Bob Brammer says the21-million dollar first payment has been moved to an account seperate fromthat of other states in the settlement.Brammer says the state is still waiting for some final legal details to beworked out before Iowa has full control of the money.Brammer says Iowa could get full control of the money by later this year.He says legislators need to start thinking about how to spend the money.Brammer says the second payment of nearly 56-million dollars is scheduledto be paid next year. Iowa will get a total of one-point-seven Billiondollars once all the money is in.
