More money is being wrung out of the federal government to fight themethamphetamine problem in Iowa. Senator Chuck Grassley says he’sshepherding a bill that would bring 400-thousand dollars to the HawkeyeState specifically targeting meth.In the plan, 178-thousand dollars would go toward a mobile meth educationcenter. Grassley says the other 222-thousand dollars would provide for thehiring of more special agents to track down clandestine meth labs acrossIowa. Just last Thursday, democrat Iowa Senator Tom Harkin announced he waspushing for 1-point-3 million dollars to help hire more law officers totackle meth.Grassley says he and Harkin serve on different committees and are trying toaddress Iowa’s problems separately AND through cooperative efforts.
