The Midland Dairy Association says over one-third of dieters don’t drinkmilk because they think its too fattening. Registered dietian KathrynThompson says cutting dairy foods out of your diet can do more harm thangood.Thompson reccommends adults consume three servings of dairy products a day. One serving is equal to one cup of milk or yogurt or an ounce and a half ofcheese. Contrary to popular belief, she says you can eat dairy productswhile on a low-calorie diet.Thompson says even if you are lactose intolerant you should be able tohandle two cups of milk a day with meals. Cooking with dairy products isanother way to ensure calcium in your diet. Thompson says food is the best way to get calcium, but if necessary acalcium pill can be substituted.
