Iowa State University officials are going ahead with some renovations ofHilton Coliseum despite failure of a local hotel/motel sales tax increase topay for them. I-S-U Vice President Warren Madden says they’ve dropped plansto add more seats to building. He says they will make three and a halfmillion dollars in other improvements.Madden is unsure of when all the work will be completed.Madden says the University will use bonds and FEMA money from the 1993 floodto pay for the improvements. In April, Ames residents voted against a plan toraise the hotel/motel tax by two percent to fund the additional seats.
