A Saturday night car accident claimed the lives of five people. Five people were killed and one remains in critical condition following ahead-on collision Saturday night on Highway 218. 33-year-old LaurenBrenamen of Oxford and their two daughters, 25-year-old Todd Grim of IowaCity, and 30-year-old Steven Beena of St. Louis, Mossuri, were all killed inthe accident. Two passengers in Beena’s vehicle, 44-year-old Keith Skilesof Cedar Hill, Mossuri and 56-year-old Sara LaFonsaine were taken toUniversity Hospital in Iowa City where Skiles was discharged on Sunday. Brenamen’s Jeep Cherokee was heading south in the southbound lane on Highway218 when it collided with an Oldsmobile driven by Steven Beena travelingnorth in the same lane. According to the state patrol, beer cans were foundin the Oldsmobile and Beena had an odor of alcohol. The accident remainsunder investigation. The accident brings the death toll on Iowa highways to9 since Memorial Day weekend.
