Congressman Leonard Boswell, a Vietnam-era Veteran, is a co-sponsor of thebill which seeks a constitutional amendment to ban flag burning. A vote onthe measure could come today.Critics charge flag burning is protected “freedom of expression” under theConstitution’ Bill of Rights. Laws which have tried to ban flag burning hasbeen deemed unconstitutional by the courts. Boswell says this effort wouldnot be subject to court challenges because it becomes part of theconsitution.Boswell expects the measure to pass the U.S. House with more thanthree-hundred votes.
