Iowa State University has turned to a former Iowan to help turn the school’svolleyball program around. Davenport native Linda Grensing has spent thepast four years as the head coach at Duke.Grensing served as an assistant at I-S-U from 1988-to-1991 and says theprogram can succeed.Grensing takes over for Kerry Miller who resigned after one season whichresulted in the program being investigated by the N-C-A-A and Miller beingcharged with lying on her resume. Cyclone Athletic Director Gene Smith sayshe is relieved to have a new coach on board.Smith says the athletic department’s new background check will be used inthe future.Grensing signed a four-year contract with an annual salary of 68-thousanddollars.
