Kerrey Endorses Bradley for Prez

Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey has thrown his support to democrat presidential candidate Bill Bradley. The two former colleagues in the U.S. Senate made appearances in Omaha and Des Moines yesterday — and Kerrey stepped forward to defend Bradley’s “no” vote in the Senate on the volatile ethanol issue. While serving as New Jersey Senator, Bradley opposed the federal tax break for corn-based ethanol fuel. Bradley says he had “very specific, New Jersey-based reasons” for voting no, but now that he’s running for President, Bradley has flipped on the issue. Kerrey denies his endorsement of Bradley is a slap at democrat front-runner Al Gore or at President Clinton. Kerrey says he’ll do all he can to help Bradley, including campaign appearances on Bradley’s behalf despite Kerrey’s own race for re-election to the Senate. Bradley says Kerrey’s endorsement helps, partly because of Kerrey’s experience as a presidential candidate himself in 1992.
