A poor showing at the U-S Senior Open has golf legend Arnold Palmer contemplating retirement. The fans don’t care what Arnold Palmer shoots –but Palmer does. Palmer finished the first two rounds with and no chance ofmaking the cut. Palmer says he has committed to play in a few events thisyear and will also honor a committment to play in the senior open next yearin his home state of Pennsylvania and admits the large following he attractswill make it more difficult to give it up.Palmer says though, his days as a competitive golfer may be coming to anend.Palmer says if he can’t be competitive he should not be playing in tournaments.Gil Morgan stayed on the leaderboard with a one under 71 and he is three under for the tournament despite what he felt were a couple of missed opportunities.Morgan says the conditions have led to lower scores today as has the familiarity with the course.Leonard Thompson is also three under after firing a four under 68 today.Thompson’s round included an eagle on the par five 11th hole.Scotland’s Brian Barnes is one of the players effected by the U-S-G-A’s no cart rule during championship events. Normally, the Senior Tour uses carts. Barnes has arthritis which makes it difficult to walk 18-holes but despite the pain fired a three-under 69 to move to one under for the tournament.
