New laws governing casinos in Illinois could eventually eat into the revenuegenerated by Iowa gambling facilities. The new Illinois law lets casinoboats stay docked and adds an extra gambling license for Cook County — homeof Chicago and its suburbs. Dubuque Greyhound Park General Manager BobWentworth sees the move impacting his operation.Wentworth says it’s not something that will happen overnight.Mark Lohman, the general manager of the President Riverboat in Davenportagrees, saying in the short term the change won’t make much difference. Lohman says it’ll likely be several 18 months to two years before thecompetition heats up.Wentworth says the Dubuque track can combat any loss to Illinois byincreasing its focus on Wisconsin customers.
