Over the years, there’ve been many cow chip-throwing contests in Iowa, but never one quite like this. Iowa Soybean Association executive directorKirk Leeds says dry fiber from cow manure is bound with a soybean adhesiveto make a type of hard board — which has been shaped like frizbees. As partof “Iowa Soybean Week,” cow chip frizbee-toss contests are being held inlocations across the state this week. Leeds says the soybean-based glue isbeing combined with other things to make particle board. Many homebuilders across Iowa and nationwide are experiencing shortages ofwallboard, sheet rock & other building supplies. Leeds says this newcomposite board could help the construction AND agricultural industries.Cow chip/soybean frizbee-toss events are planned this week in Indianola andin several counties, including the following: Black Hawk, Cherokee, Greeneand Carroll.
