Two members of the state Racing and Gaming Commission say they want tofoster more meaningful discussion between both sides in the gambling debate.Commissioner Jim Hassenfritz says he and fellow commissioner Mike Mahaffeywant the pro- and anti-gambling forces to work together.Hassenfritz says the commission’s meetings are not the place to discuss themorality of gambling. He says that too often happens and it wastescommissiontime.He says both sides of the issue would gain by holding some constructivetalks on the issue.Hassenfritz and Mahaffey are new members to the commission appointed byGovernor Vilsack.
