A joint effort between Easter Seals and Iowa State University is helpingdisabled farmers around the state. Tracy Keninger, program director for theEaster Seals, says “AgriAbility” has helped over eight-hundred farmers sinceits start in 1990. “AgriAbility” is a national program with alot of success in Iowa.Dennis Seeman is a Woodward farmer who used “AgriAbility” after a farmingaccident left him in a wheelchair.Seeman says he had no time to worry about his future in farming and he saysthe program helped him plan.Seeman says “AgriAbility” taught him that a paraplegic can farm.”AgriAbility” provided Seeman with equipment to get him into his tractor andcombine. He says it’s a group to turn to if you need help.Any farm family member who has a disability and resides in the state of Iowais qualified for Iowa’s AgriAbility services.
