Iowa girls who own a popular “American Girl” are invited to a tea partythis afternoon at a Des Moines public library. Ann Murray, the “youthspecialist” at the Franklin Library in Des Moines, says girls are encouragedto dress up and bring their favorite doll.Girls ages five to 12 are invited. Murray says the “American Girls” dollsare not only fun, they’re educational.The series features girls living in different parts of the country indifferent time periods.One doll is from Mexico and another escaped slavery..The “American Girls” Tea Party is free but the library would like you toR-S-V-P at 515-283-4152. The party begins at 3 o’clock today at theFranklin Library in Des Moines.
