Bush promised to run a “positive” campaign for the White House.Competitor Lamar Alexander has been running advertisements which accuse Bushof trying to buy the G.O.P.’s presidential nomination. However, Bush didnot mention any opponent by name, only pledging to avoid “trash-mouth”politics.In other campaign-related news, Pat Buchanan has issued a statement sayinghe has NO intention of leaving the Republican Party. According to publishedreports, Buchanan is being courted by the Reform Party. And republicancompetitor Steve Forbes is blaming “deeply flawed government policies” forthe current price crisis in American Agriculture. Forbes says reducingtaxes, tearing down trade barriers and reducing interest rates will helpfarmers.
