The Iowa Department of Corrections is planning a new computer system thatofficials hope will make it easier to track what happens to Iowa inmates.Deputy Director of Administration, John Baldwin, says the departmentcurrently uses two systems that are decades old.Baldwin says the new system will combine information from the entirecorrections department into one data base.He says it takes days under the current system to compile information.Baldwin says the new system will cost between one and one-and-a-half milliondollars.Baldwin says all areas of the corrections department are giving input on thenew system now as they enter the budget process for the next fiscal year.
