Hundreds of people in the Council Bluffs area are cleaning up after weekendrains brought heavy flash flooding. Bobbie Bishop is a spokeswoman for theCentral Iowa chapter of the American Red Cross. She says the agency isalready at work this morning in Pottawattamie County.Bishop says the area got between 9 and 12 inches of rain over the weekend,pushing rivers & streams out of their banks. She says a large van packedwith food and cleaning supplies is headed from Des Moines to Council Bluffsthis morning.She says it’s important the Red Cross volunteers not only help with theclean-up, but help counsel the flood victims,Many parts of Iowa have been inundated with flooding this year. Bishop saysthe Red Cross could always use cash donations to keep the relief operationsrunning. She says the best way to donate is by calling 800-HELP-NOW.
