Most people have tried fat-free salad dressing, yogurt, and the recentadvent of fat-free chips — but what about a fat-free corn dog? Today, afat-free corn dog was unveiled at the Iowa State Fair by creator DianeMcIlhon (Mac-el-hon). She says the biggest problem was getting the outsidecoating of the hot dog made without deep fat frying. She created thefat-free corn-dog so that her patients at the Dean Ornish Program forReversing Heart Disease could enjoy some traditional fair food. She was able to achieve her favorite part of the corn-dog, the salt of thehot dog and the sweet of the cornbread. She said about 50 people tried the corn-dog this morning and so far she’shad a good response. Her recipe is not ready for mass-production yet, butshe eventually hopes to have a booth at the State Fair.
