Some community leaders in Sioux City say they’re concerned that a newImmigration and Naturalization Service office is being built in a primarilyhispanic neighborhood in south central Sioux City. Leaders say the I-N-Soffice could create fear among residents that the government is coming afterthem. I-N-S acting district director Michael Went says legal citizensshouldn’t worry. Went says the construction is well underway and there areno plans to change the location of the building.Went says the I-N-S will also be looking for those who are workingillegally. The new office is scheduled to open October 12th.
