Just when it looked like former Iowa Hawkeye Jared Devries would move intothe starting lineup with the Detroit Lions, an injury sidelined those hopes.Devries, a defensive lineman, tore ligaments in his left foot a few weeksago. After seeing five or six doctors, he has decided to put the foot in acast instead of having season-ending surgery. He says it could be six toeight weeks before he knows if the cast works. Devries says he definitelywants to play as soon as possible. DeVries says right now he is trying tostay positive.
