Three Cass County men are facing felony charges for alledgly stealing moneyfrom a grain elevator to pay for their gambling losses. Special agent RobertHenderson with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says the men weretaken into custody after a two month investigation.The three men are 32-year old Mark Carlton, 29-year old Douglas Stephens,both of Griswold and 65-year old Arno Ristau (rihs-stow) of Lewis. Hendersonsays the men alledgedly cheated the Hancock Elevator to cover gamblingdebts.Henderson says all three men benefited from the fraudulent grain sales. Hesays the plot was uncovered after state officials made a routine measurementof the elevator’s grain.Carlton faces 18 counts, Stephens 13 counts and Ristan 11 counts. All threeare being held on bond. Henderson says the investigation is continuing andmore arrests are possible.
