A seed company formed in Iowa 75-years ago underwent a major change today.The shareholders of Pioneer Hi-Bred International officially approved amerger with Dupont. Former Pioneer President and C-E-O Charles Johnsonannounced the results of today’s vote.Ninety-nine-point-six percent of shareholders voted in favor of the merger. Johnson has become an Executive Vice President for Dupont. Jerry Chicoinetakes over as Pioneer President and C-E-O. The merger was first announcedin March of this year and involves a seven-point-seven billion dollar stockswap for the 80-percent of Pioneer that Dupont did not already own. Johnsonsays the deal is great for both companies.Pioneer has about five-thousand workers worldwide. Before the merger, DuPonthad 92-thousand employees in 70 countries.
