Hinton Co-op takes GMO grain

The assistant manager of the farmers co-op in Hinton says his elevator *IS* accepting genetically-modified crops which have been approved for export. Ron Lorenzen says there are NO plans to segregate those types of corn and soybeans from non-G-M-O crops. Lorenzen says only a small percentage of crops grown from genetically enhanced seed is NOT approved for export and domestic use. He says the Hinton facility is asking farmers to use the honor system regarding non-approved G-M-O’s. Despite what’s being said in some reports and by some politicians, Lorenzen says a large percentage of G-M-O corn and soybeans IS being accepted overseas. Lorenzen says it’s a matter of emotion, not science, that’s spurring the concern over G-M-O grain. He says it’s just that technology has emerged a little faster than public opinion.
