One of Iowa’s leaders in the Catholic Church has just returned from a trip to Africa, checking up on how the money Iowans donated is being spent. Bishop Joseph Charron (SHARE-un) is a board member of Catholic Relief Services and he visited Zimbabwe and Malawi (zim-BOB-way & mah-LAH-we). Bishop Charron says Iowans can rest assured, the dollars they’ve given to C-R-S at their churches are being well-managed & well-spent in the overseas missions. Charron says C-R-S programs are helping provide Africans with food, clothing, hospitals, clinics and medicine. Charron is bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Des Moines which includes 23 central & southwestern Iowa counties, including the cities of Des Moines, Shenandoah, Council Bluffs and Creston.
