An energized Al Gore came out swinging at his opponent, Bill Bradley, on the Iowa campaign trail this weekend. A political firestorm swept through Iowa this weekend as the two democrats running for President spoke at the Iowa Democratic Party’s Jefferson/Jackson Day dinner. Party chairman Rob Tully says over three-thousand attended. Vice President Al Gore took it to rival Bill Bradley from the git go, challenging Bradley to a debate every week — and questioning Bradley’s democratic credentials, such as Bradley’s decision to leave the U.S. Senate when Republicans took over Congress. Bradley shrugged off the “darts” — opting to keep his campaign positive. Also this weekend, Republican candidates Orrin Hatch, Steve Forbes and Gary Bauer spoke to the Iowa Right to Life convention.
