Iowa’s duck hunting season opens Saturday and many factors are workingagainst it getting a good start. With the recent warmer weather, many flocksaren’t even migrating into Iowa yet. Also, the weather is supposed to becold & drizzly, with highs only in the 40s. Guy Zenner a waterfowl researchbiologist for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.says the last several weeks have been so dry that many lakes & wetland areaswhere ducks would normally gather are very low or dried up. Zennerrecommends hunters do some scouting before opening day or they may come homewith empty bags. The season opens a half-hour before sunrise on Saturday and runs throughDecember 9th. Iowa deer hunters will also be taking aim this weekend asmuzzleloader season starts Saturday too.
