The U-S Senate is debating the Agriculture funding bill for 2000, whichcontains eight-point-seven billion dollars in emergency relief for farmers.Speaking on the Senate floor, Iowa Senator Tom Harkin said he wasdisappointed in the bill’s failure to drop trade sanctions with Cuba andother countries.Harkin says the emergency aid portion of the bill is important, but notenough.The overall bill would spend 69-billion dollars.
