Iowa State nose tackle Ryan Harklau says he had no idea he was afast healer. Harklau broke a bone in his foot against Iowa on September 11thand had surgery the next day to insert a pin into the broken bone. Normallythe healing time is eight weeks for an injury of that sort but Harklau wasback at practice in four and a half weeks and played extensively againstMissouri. Harklau says he was surprised could play a majority of the game againstMissouri, but says he felt as good as he did after the first game of theseason.Harklau was asked why his recovery time was so short. He says he drank allthe milk he could and ate anything he could containing calcium.Harklau says one of the reasons he wanted to get back so quick is theexcitement on campus over the 4-2 start. He says everyone is excited and itfeels great.
