Ceremonies in the central Iowa town of Newton this afternoon marked thegrand opening of a new apartment complex that was the result of many private& public partnerships. The 1-point-9 million dollar Forest View complex willprovide affordable housing to 48 families in Newton.Maureen Warren is a vice president at Fannie Mae, the nation’s largestfinancing source for home mortgages. She says the new complex is part of theFannie Mae’s initiative to create affordable rental housing across Iowa.Warren says Forest View was made possible through partnerships betweenprivate, city and state agencies.Fannie Mae has now helped finance nearly 200 apartments in Newton, Grinnell,Pella, Kellogg and Monroe. Warren says Fannie Mae this month marks its thirdyear serving Iowa.Fannie Mae’s initiative is called “HouseIowa” and involves a five-year,three-billion dollar investment strategy to help 40-thousand Iowa familiesobtain affordable housing.
