Iowa’s jobless rate hit a new record low of two-point-four percent duringSeptember, according to figures released today by the state.Sha Khan (shah con) is a labor market analyst at Iowa Workforce Development.He says the state’s seasonally adjusted rate is the lowest since thosefigures were first calculated in 1978, with previous lows of two-point-sixpercent coming in February, May and June of this year. Khan says that wasn’tthe only record set during September, the number of unemployed was37-thousand-700. That surpasses the previous low of 41-thousand-600 set inMay of this year. The national unemployment rate was steady atfour-point-five percent during September.
