Governor Vilsack is seeking federal help for drought stricken countiesin Southern Iowa. The Governor is asking U-S Ag Secretary Dan Glickman for a disasterdeclaration for seven counties. Vilsack says things are so dry in Davis,Henry, Jefferson, Lee, Van Buren, Wapello and Wayne counties that producersthere are experiencing abnormal crop production losses. The federaldesignation would let farmers in those seven counties and contiguouscounties apply for Farm Service emergency loans and Small BusinessAdministration economic injury loans.
