Middle school students in central Iowa will take part in a nationalconversation about diversity today. In what’s being called a town hallmeeting for “Generation Y,” students will be linked over cable T-V and overthe internet to talk about issues that’re important to them. Debora Blume is spokeswoman for the A-T-and-T Cable Services office in DesMoines, which is helping sponsor the event, called “Opening the Door toDiversity: Voices from the Middle School.” Blume says almost anyone withcable T-V can tune in, as well as people with personal computers. Some 250 students at Brody Middle School in Des Moines will be watching the11 a-m web-cast along with students in Colorado, California, Wyoming andIllinois.
